Muneera Zaidi, LMHC

APPROACH

Muneera Zaidi, a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor, works primarily with individuals seeking recovery and support to cope with mental health disorders, alcohol and other substance abuse issues. Muneera also offers couple’s and family sessions for patients seeking to strengthen their relationships which are typically impacted when one is struggling to balance their life and emotions. Her theoretical approach is eclectic and integrative to the needs of her patients, often utilizing: Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Based Practice, and Structural Family Therapy.  

EXPERIENCE

Ms. Zaidi’s experience also gathers from her years of work as a substance abuse counselor at Parallax, an OASAS licensed outpatient detox and continuing care substance abuse agency located in New York City.  

She has also trained as an individual, family and couples therapist at The Family Service League in Montclair, NJ. Having the opportunity to work with large multi-generational families, children and individuals dealing with a multitude of issues including; depression, anxiety-panic disorder, post-traumatic stress, bipolar disorder, anger management, eating disorders, addiction/dependency issues, as well as family of origin issues.

She has been recognized by her supervisors and colleagues for superior clinical and engagement skills needed to foster therapeutic relationships, and deliver psychological services in a warm, empathetic and professional manner.

EDUCATION

Muneera holds a Master’s of Education in Psychological Counseling from New York’s Columbia University, Teachers College. She completed her Bachelors of Science studies in Psychology from The University of Houston in Texas.
